Memorial Day – remembering those who served their country and made the ultimate sacrifice.

Tomb of the Unknown SoldierToday is Memorial Day in the United States. We set aside this day to remember those who died in military service to our country.

One symbol of those who died and never got recognition for their sacrifice is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Several years ago I was in Washington, DC and had the opportunity to once again visit Arlington Cemetery. I was able to witness the changing of the guard, which is done with great honor and reverence.

As the day ends here in the United States I find this picture to be a powerful image.
