X-Men has great SFX but not a great story June 10, 2006

X-Men 3Last night I took my family out to see a movie. My children decided they wanted to see the new X-Men movie. I enjoyed the first and second X-Men movie, as they were fairly entertaining. So, we agreed to see the third (and last?) X-Men movie.

What did I think about it? The special effects were really good. It's amazing how well computer graphics and special effects can be blended and integrated into the live action. That part of the movie was done very well. Impressive, even. But, I found the story line to be rather weak. It really did not grab me. Parts were even, well, unbelievable. Yes, I know, it's based on a comic book story, so it's supposed to be beyond belief. I guess I expect it to be a little credible, or at least the plot shouldn't have gaps or holes in it.
To me, the movie was entertaining and the special effects were fantastic, but the plot was not very good. It's worth seeing it for the SFX.
