Start Your Own ccSalon… May 11, 2006Posted by Matsu in Information Technology, Open Source, Technology.
The iCommons Summit, known as iSummit '06, will take place in Rio de Janeiro on June 23rd of this year. The registration web site has an interesting post about hosting a Creative Commons Salon (ccSalon).
The iSummit '06 posting says:
"The next ccSalon will be held on 10 May at Shine in San Francisco, and there is much to look forward to. The line-up includes, amongst others, Chris DiBona, the Open Source Programs Manager for Google and Abram Stern and Michael Dale, who will be presenting Metavid, a system for the collective remediation of public government proceedings."

The Creative Commons organization encourages the sharing of media content and open source software under the Creative Common License. Actually, they have several licenses to suite every situation and comfort level of the author of the work.
By creating an informal event that encourages more socializing between artists and programmers and the Creative Commons members they hope to gain support for existing open source projects and get news ones started. Very interesting approach.
